PHILIPS MEDICAL SYSTEMS AGREEMENT
05-05-2004
LiDCO (LID.L), the UK-based, AIM-traded cardiovascular monitoring company,
today announces that the company has entered into a contract with Philips
Medical Systems to create a communications link between LiDCO’s proprietary,
stand-alone monitoring system and Philips' patient monitors, via the Philips
Open Vuelink Interface protocol. Under the agreement, Philips will provide
LiDCO with appropriate software to enable a communications link between
the LiDCOplus Hemodynamic Monitor and Philips' IntelliVue Patient Monitor.
Once completed, the communications link will allow Philips customers access
to LiDCO’s proprietary, minimally-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
data on the IntelliVue Patient Monitor. The integration of critical care
parameters and data derived from the LiDCOplus monitor will allow a full
picture of the patient’s condition and history to be displayed and
accessed throughout the hospital.
LiDCO’s CEO, Dr. Terry O’Brien, commented “The communications
link will further enhance the utility of the LiDCOplus for both our existing
and future Philips customers. LiDCO will continue to explore additional
non-exclusive collaborations with the major corporations providing monitoring
products to the acute care hospital market. Our ambition is to make LiDCO’s
technology the standard of care throughout the hospital for minimally-invasive
hemodynamic monitoring.”
Notes about the Philips Vuelink and IntelliVue Monitor
The new Philips IntelliVue Patient Monitoring System with portal technology
is expected to speed treatment decisions and enhance time spent with the
patient. IntelliVue uses portal technology to enable hospital staff to
securely access, view and interact with patient information right at the
bedside. It provides true integration of a wide variety of applications
from Philips and other companies equipment on a single screen, without
the need to have a second network connection. The system is designed to
enhance workflow and locate patient information more quickly, which may
facilitate faster diagnoses, and therefore, better treatment.
The IntelliVue monitor is networked to Philips’ enhanced IntelliVue
Information Center. IntelliVue enables staff access to patients’
records throughout their hospital stay. As a patient moves between departments
e.g. the emergency room to the operating room, information on a patient
in one location can be accessed from other care units as well as on the
Information Center.
